Wendy M. Wright is Emerita Professor of Theology at Creighton University and Affiliate Faculty at Oblate School of Theology Institute for Study of Contemporary Spirituality. She earned her PhD in Late Medieval/Early Modern Contemplative at the University of California at Santa Barbara. She received honorary doctorates from De Sales University in 2000 and Assumption University in 2022 for her work in the Salesian spiritual tradition. Professor Wright’s areas of expertise include the history of Christian spirituality, family spirituality and the Catholic devotional tradition. Her scholarly work has focused on the Salesian spiritual tradition founded by Francis de Sales and Jane de Chantal. Wright is the author of seventeen books, the most recent of which is the co-authored The Nineteenth Century Salesian Pentecost in the Paulist Press Classics of Western Spirituality series (2022). She has written over sixty academic articles in books, refereed journals, and monographs. Her interest in the practice of Christian spirituality has led to another eighty plus articles published in pastoral publications. She is a long time spiritual director, working presently with the novitiate team of the Franciscans in California’s central coast. She and her husband Roger Bergman are parents of three and grandparents of six.
Oblate School of Theology has been accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of the Association of Theological Schools in the United States and Canada to award the Master of Divinity, Master of Arts in Pastoral Ministry (English and Spanish), Master of Arts (Theology), Master of Arts (Spirituality), Master of Arts (Sacred Scripture), Ph.D. in Spirituality, and Doctor of Ministry degrees.
