Fr. Fragomeni brings immense experience and background in homiletics, infectious energy and life to his presentations, and vastly insightful principles for how one might approach developing and growing in the life of preaching that serves God’s mission gifted to the Church. Oblate School of Theology is thrilled to welcome him as the Master Preacher & Presenter at Project in Preaching 2024.
The Project in Preaching Clergy Day will be on October 17th , 2024 from 9:00am CST to 12:00pm CST at The Whitley Event Center on the campus of Oblate School of Theology. Fr. Fragomeni will focus on Pope Francis’ Apostolic Letter on liturgical formation, Desidario desideravi, and its significant implications for preaching.
The Project in Preaching Day for Oblate School of Theology Houses of Formation Day will be on October 18th , 2024 from 9:00am CST to 12:00pm CST at The Whitley Event Center on the campus of Oblate School of Theology. Fr. Fragomeni will cover Pope Francis’s release of “Letter of His Holiness Pope Francis on the Role of Literature in Formation.” This session will pay especially note how preachers should read and utilize poetry and literature and how might this be done effectively and practically for preparing homilies. Fr. Fragomeni will unpack the significance of this letter and reinforce it by showcasing a practical and creative method of preaching that itself becomes a liturgical poetic.
Fr. Richard Fragomeni, PhD is a presbyter of the Diocese of Albany, New York, and has been a member of the CTU faculty since 1990. His teaching involves him in Roman Catholic theology, interpretation theory, and poetry. His current work is in the field of word and sacrament: the intersection of symbolic activity and language as it creates insights into the Christian proclamation of grace. Central to this work is a fascination with the power of liturgy and preaching in the transformation of the human heart.
Fr. Richard is an adjunct faculty member in the Department of Religious Studies at DePaul University. He also serves as the Rector of The Shrine of Our Lady of Pompeii, an Italian-American spiritual center in Chicago’s historic Little Italy. In addition to his teaching duties he is a preacher of parish missions and gives presentations nationally and internationally on liturgical, sacramental, homiletical, and catechetical topics.
