Experience:
Dr. Marden is an Associate Professor of Pastoral Theology at the Oblate School of Theology. She teaches in the areas of evangelization and faith formation, pastoral ministry, and theological reflection. In addition to teaching Master’s and Doctoral-level courses, she enjoys offering Continuing Education lectures and workshops, as well as parish lectures and missions. She currently directs the Master of Arts in Pastoral Ministry program and was instrumental in creating the bilingual (Spanish – English) version of that program – the Maestría de Artes en Ministerio Pastoral.
She served as Associate Dean for Continuing Education at Oblate School of Theology (2008 – 2016); and as Associate Academic Dean (2005 – 2008). She has been an instructor in deacon formation programs in the (arch)dioceses of San Antonio, San Angelo, and Lubbock (2005 -2016), as well as a regular instructor in the Lay Ministry Institute (LMI) (2005 – 2019). She helped direct the updating and revision of the LMI in 2019 – 2020. She served as a Pastoral Associate at St. Helena Catholic Church in San Antonio, TX (1997- 2005). She has taught as faculty for the San Antonio Archdiocesan Catechetical Center catechist certificate programs. She has also taught in RCIA formation programs of the Archdiocese of San Antonio. Her ministry includes having been on RCIA teams in California, Virginia and San Antonio, functioning as director at two of those parishes. She earned the Professional Catechist certificate through the San Antonio Archdiocesan Catechetical Center (1997). She has 45+ years of experience in faith formation. She was an elementary school teacher in Maine, Missouri, and North Dakota. She is a wife, mother, and grandmother.
Interests:
Evangelization, Christian Initiation, and adult faith formation as well as sewing, quilting and knitting.
Oblate School of Theology has been accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of the Association of Theological Schools in the United States and Canada to award the Master of Divinity, Master of Arts in Pastoral Ministry (English and Spanish), Master of Arts (Theology), Master of Arts (Spirituality), Master of Arts (Sacred Scripture), Ph.D. in Spirituality, and Doctor of Ministry degrees. Approved for a Comprehensive Distance Education Program.
