Updated Building Closures

The time to close the buildings has come. COVID-19 is in the community so the danger of person-to-person transmission is higher. On Monday, March 23, OST will be implementing procedures for some employees to work from home and others at the school. In coordination with the Executive Council, supervisors will determine which non-exempt (hourly) employees will be asked to remain on duty at the school. All employees will remain employed with OST as stated in the following policy.

In coordination with the Oblate Service Corporation, OST’s administration will be implementing the following Emergency Closure policy regarding compensation for all personnel based on the decision to close its facilities.

1.     All regular non-exempt (hourly) personnel will be paid at 100% of the employee’s regular rate of pay for up to 80 hours (two weeks).  Compensation will be based on the average hours worked over the last six (6) months.  The administration is working together with the Oblate Service Corporation to build a plan beyond the initial 14-day period of closure, should it be needed. Please know we are working to continue supporting all employees.

2.     Compensation for regular part-time employees will be paid at 100% of the employee’s regular rate of pay for up to two (2) weeks.  Compensation will be based on the average hours worked over the last six (6) months.  The administration is working together with the Oblate Service Corporation to build a plan beyond the initial 14-day period of closure, should it be needed. Please know we are working to continue supporting all employees.

3.     Should there be an emergency regarding facilities, non-exempt maintenance personnel will be called to address such emergencies and compensation will be paid at the rate of one and one-half of the employee’s regular pay rate.

4.     Exempt personnel required to or asked to come in during the mandated period of closure will be compensated at their regular rate of pay.

5.     The above provisions do not apply to any employees authorized or approved to work from home during this closure.
