We Need Your Help to Renovate the Pat Guidon Center

With immense gratitude, we look back on the past year and remember all the good things that have happened at Oblate School of Theology, thanks to the generosity of so many friends. We extend our deepest appreciation to those who responded so generously to our 2016 appeal to repair the front stairs on the Benson Theological Center, OST’s signature building.  All three sets of stairs have been fully restored and are in use once more.

While OST anticipates and budgets for normal maintenance requirements, as our buildings age and the demands on our facilities increase or change, there are instances when the repairs needed exceed our maintenance budget.  That was the case with the stairs and with a current need for which I request your help.

The Pat Guidon Center for Continuing Education (PGC), completed in 2001, houses the Ministry to Ministers four-month sabbatical program twice each year.  The MtM program continues to boast capacity enrollment, which is a blessing.  The PGC also houses the women in our Sophia Community Program for an entire month each June, hosts the bishops of Texas for their annual retreat each January, the vicars for clergy of Texas each May, as well as other groups.  The PGC has also lodged the twice-yearly International Priest Internship sessions.  The wear and tear on the PGC due to its nearly constant use over 16 years has taken its toll.

While the entire facility could use sprucing up, the most urgent need is for a complete kitchen and dining room renovation.  For example, the kitchen appliances and storage areas are grossly inadequate for the amount of use the PGC currently receives and some of the dining room chairs are broken beyond repair.

Please help us begin the work needed by making a gift of any amount you can. We are grateful for whatever you can do to help OST. Every gift is important and appreciated.

• Friends who make gifts of $250 or more will receive a 2018 OST Fiesta medal featuring the PGC.

• Donors of $1,000 or more will be enrolled in OST’s Club of 1,000 Friends, which entitles the giver to complimentary privileges for life at the O’Shaughnessy Library; complimentary admission to all lectures at OST by Father Ron Rolheiser, OMI; a 10% discount on the registration fee for the Summer Institute and a complimentary copy of each issue of OST’s theological journal, Offerings: A Journal of Practical Theology and Spirituality.

• Donors of $5,000 or more will also have their names or the name of someone they choose to honor or memorialize on a plaque in the dining room.

While financial support is important, your prayers and encouragement are also greatly appreciated. We are proud of OST and grateful for friends like you who have made the School the vibrant and growing institution it is!

Sincerely in Jesus Christ, Mary Immaculate and St. Eugene,

Ron Rolheiser, OMI

President
