GIVING TO OBLATE

Do you want to make a donation?

You've worked hard all your life to accumulate whatever wealth and assets you have. Without proper estate planning the IRS could receive the single largest gift from your inheritance. Why should the IRS receive part of your inheritance when it was you who did all of the work? One of the biggest reasons for having a will is it prevents your heirs from having to spend hours and hours of time, expense, and frustration. The plan begins with a will.

Isn't a will for someone who has a great deal of wealth?

I don't need a will because I don't have much money. This is a very common thought among the general public. Without a will, the court could possibly appoint an administrator you wouldn't approve as caretaker for your children, distribute you property, and possibly make other choices that you would not agree with. Why have someone else make these choices about the things you have accumulated during your lifetime when it only takes a small amount of time to draw up a will? A properly executed will can save your loved ones many problems and quite possibly leave more money for the heirs than if there were no will. Remember a will isn't for you, its what you've done for your loved ones.

If you want to include Oblate School of Theology in your will but don't know how to state your intentions, use the following:

I, (name), of (city & state) give to the Oblate School of Theology in San Antonio, Texas (either a specific amount, describe the property or percentage of the estate). If you want the gift to be used for a specific purpose, note the purpose or if there is no particular use, state the gift is unrestricted and can be used as the administration of Oblate School of Theology see fit.
